It’s the day after Mother’s Day AND a Monday, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share with you my new obsession: ice coffee cubes! I promise they are going to turn your world upside down in the very best way possible!

I Adore What I Love Blog // ICED COFFEE CUBES FOR THE WIN // www.iadorewhatilove.com #iadorewhatilove

Before we delve into that, did everyone have a great mama’s day? My boys totally spoiled me! I was gifted with photoshop {YES!! now I need to learn how to do use it! tips are welcome!}, a new apple watch band {turns out he did read my mother’s day gift guide post}, and gorgeous flowers! So I asked for photoshop but the flowers and watch band were a COMPLETE shock. My hubs was actually out of town all weekend but really went above and beyond from afar! And when he got home in the middle of the day yesterday, he completely took over with Brody. I am the luckiest. But enough about me!! Tell me about your day at the end of this post, please and thanks!!!

Okay, back to the cubes! You know when you drink ice coffee and then the ice cubes melt and your drink is completely watered down and practically undrinkable?! For lack of a better word, it sucks, right!? Yeah, I know. I’ve seen ice coffee cubes featured on the ‘net as well as on Pinterest but they were never on my radar to recreate. However, the other morning I woke up CRAVING iced coffee! It was a rainy, windy, and crummy day so walking to get coffee was out of the question. Instead, I decided to make it myself and put regular ‘ol ice cubes into my coffee… but blahhh! Not so great. The ice melted so quickly making my delicious drink {which was fine at first} pretty gross before I could even finish it. FAIL.

I typically drink my homemade coffee with a little bit of cream {you know I fancy mint so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I love Coffee Mate Girl Scouts Thin Mint creamer – it’s gluten free and way too good} so I decided that I would add that into my ice coffee cubes, too. Just a drop, you guys, but I figured it would be a smart thing to do in order to keep the coffee to cream ratio equal once the cubes melted.

Guess what? It was a genius idea!! My iced coffee honestly has never tasted better! It was even more delicious than when I go to Starbucks or my local coffee shop! Seriously! Why isn’t everyone on board with ice coffee cubes?! Like, Starbucks needs to read this post and start selling them because they are such a game changer! Anddd #YUM!

They are also the easiest things to make everrrrr. First, I used my Keurig to brew my favorite coffee K-cups. Once it was done, I poured the coffee into this amazing silicone iced cube tray, then added some creamer, and put the tray in the freezer. A few hours later and the ice cubes were totally frozen and ready to go! #toldyaitwaseasy

Another obsession of mine: my Starbucks venti plastic cold cup. I’ve literally had it for probably 8 years! Not a joke. It’s just one of those amazing inventions that I’ve constantly used since the day I bought it! Shop it for yourself here {just in time for those perfect summer days!}

Omgosh people, what are you waiting for?!?! Go make your iced coffee cubes so they’re ready to use for your midday pick-me-up! You will not be disappointed. That’s a fact!

  5. Jalisa says:

    I’ve never thought of this, but this is why you’re in my life, Dana, haha! I always tell you, you have the best hacks and ideas and I always leave your blog having learnt something new or have been reminded about something I’ve completely forgot about! As much as I love iced coffee, I hate when the barista adds too much ice because I know it’ll become super watery, super fast! If you tell them not too much, it’s never enough! This is such a great solution because I, too, brew my own coffee at home. Now, I have a question, do you brew your coffee like you typically would and just add the cubes to it and do you add the creamer to your coffee or do you leave it out since the cubes have it already? I hope that wasn’t confusing, haha! Thanks so much for sharing, gorgeous, and I hope you have a wonderful week!

    PS: I’m so happy you enjoyed your Mother’s Day, you deserved all those lovely gifts, you’re such a great mama and wife!

    XO,

    Jalisa

    • Dana Ivy says:

      Hahahah not confusing at all, Jalisa! I totally get your q!! So I brew the coffee like normal, add a little cream like normal, and let it sit for a bit. Thennnn, I’ll add the iced coffee cubes hoping they don’t melt immediately because the coffee isn’t crazy hot! {But if they do melt, totally fine, I just add more coffee cubes!} Basically, to answer your q- I add the cream in the cubes and the coffee in order to make sure the coffee to cream ratio is how I typically like it! Ha!

      Anddd I hope you had a great mama’s day as well! You are so sweet! Happy Monday and let me know what you think of these coffee cubes!!! Xox
