Engagement Proposals

January 26, 2013 in I Adore What I Love
One of my best friends got engaged last night!  We celebrated afterwards and had an absolute blast. I am so happy for her and her man because not only are they both the sweetest, most fun-loving people, but they are perfecto for each other!  They make me happy and I couldn’t be more excited for both of them :)Because I’ve known since Tuesday that my friend’s now-fiance was going to propose, I have been thinking a lot about engagements!  There are so many fun engagement stories that I hear from people.  Some are hilarious, some are over-the-top, some are extremely simple and sweet, and others are so bad it hurts. The teachers who I work with and I got into a whole conversation about it at lunch yesterday and we found ourselves not only telling about our own special stories, but also relaying our parents engagement stories to each other and sharing our grandparents engagement stories as well. With that, I’d like to share my own engagement story with all my iadorewhatilove readers… and I will start by saying that it’s a good one, although I might be prejudiced about it for obvious reasons. Here it goes…

Isaiah proposed at the Trump downtown in Chicago.  He told me we were going to a surprise dinner, but I didn’t think anything of it because he had done this a few times prior. When we got in the cab, Isaiah finally told me that we would be going to the restaurant Sixteen at the hotel. I wasn’t really that hungry.. but went with it!  We got in the elevator and I pressed the “Sixteen” button for the restaurant.  When the doors opened and I went to step out, Isaiah put his arm out and said he had a surprise upstairs that had to do with the Chef and the meal.  I thought it was odd, but also thought maybe we were going to have a private dining experience or something. I knew this was totally something Isaiah would have up his sleeve. The next thing I know I was walking into a hotel room and Isaiah was smiling ear to ear — and sweating!!

The room was covered in rose pedals and candles and as I walked down the hallway, I could hear our song playing in the background – it was an amazing night Immediately after Isaiah proposed, my parents, grandparents, and brother and sister-in-law all showed up at the hotel.  Later, our friends arrived at the hotel bar where we celebrated our engagement until we closed the bar down!

The hubs did good, I know!
Please share with me some of your favorite engagement stories!!!
