(Come on, don’t tell me you didn’t foresee this blog post coming?)
I’m actually really good at coming up with realistic resolutions that I can keep into the new year and beyond. For example, three years ago I vowed to take the stairs instead of an elevator or escalator if it was a feasible option. I still do that. Two years ago, one of my resolutions was to unsubscribe from all the fantastic members-only sites, like HauteLook, Gilt, and Rue La La, which sent me daily emails with access to limited-time sale events. I recognized that I was buying much more than I should of been through these sites, and unfortunately, it was way more common for me to return the merchandise than keep it. Haven’t resubscribed yet. This year, I have just a small list of realistic resolutions:
The second new years resolution I have is to spend less and save more. Now that I am a wife with a husband, I think this is sensible. As my author summary explains, I have a bit of a shopping addiction. I vow to cut back this year and only buy things that I absolutely, positively, craveeee to have in my closet. This one is going to be difficult.
My last realistic resolution I have set for myself is to workout as much as I did before my wedding. Whether it be spinning, yoga, running or trying a new class at any one of the new gyms popping up all over the chi city, I want to do something at least 4-5 times a week. As I have enjoyed these past few months only sporadically going to the gym, I need to get back just as much, if not more, than I did prior to my wedding! Wish me luck with this one!
This may come as a surprise (or not!) but I haven’t exactly publicized this blog yet. My nickname for it is my secret blog because all of about 5 people know about it. I hate to admit it but I am slightly nervous about being judged & such. Anyways, this year I will 100% tell more people about my blog & cross my fingers that it spreads like wildfire.
#3 is easy: I’d like to be more spontaneous! I have always believed that spontaneity makes for a much more exciting and happier life and my goal is to engrave this type of thinking into my mind and live by that rule, always (I can’t help but forget it sometimes). So next time I take a road trip, maybe we’ll stop at the random winery we see on the side of the highway?! (Starting small…)
I’d love to know what some of your resolutions are for this year!! Please comment below :)
