Oh How I Love September

September 8, 2013 in I Adore What I Love, Local Love
I might be biased because September is my birthday month, but it is definitely the best month of the year.  Besides for my bday, there are many reasons why I’ve always adored it:

  1. Fall is my favorite season and the first day falls on the 22nd of September.
  2. The Jewish holidays typically fall during the month of September.  Each holiday is filled with lots of family time and of course great food, too!
  3. It never fails that during the month of September I’ll wake up one day and it’s just cooler outside.  After the summer heat, I always look forward to that.
  4. New clothes for a new school year!
  5. Oh, did I mention my bday is on the 5th?!  Check out my last post for some corny but true thoughts on what I did on Thursday.
Basically, I love this month. It just makes me smile.  And with that, check out my…

  1. Head to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont, IL.  Okay, okay I will admit it, I’ve already been twice now since it opened on August 1st, but let me tell you, I am UBsessed!!! I mean, if I lived closer I would go all the time.

  2. This year, I am taking part in a fantasy football league with my hubby and friends.  Since I am reallllly trying to learn and appreciate the game, I will obviously be watching at one of the many sports bars Chicago has to offer.

  3. Take a mini road trip to the apple orchard!  If you know me, you know I’ve been yearning to do this for years now and because life happens, have never had the chance.  This year, I am making it a necessity. There are a ton of orchards not too far from the city, like Curran’s Orchard in Rockford, All Seasons Orchard in Woodstock, and Honey Hill Orchard in Waterman.

  4. A few weeks ago I came across a simple recipe on Pinterest that I knew would be right up my alley… it’s called “Fall Brittle” and damn, does it look delish!  Can’t wait to tackle it in the kitchen this month.

  5. Dine at Restaurant Beatrix, the new Lettuce Entertain You hot spot that seems to encompass the perfect fall atmosphere.  The menu looks a little odd but I’m up for it.  (Maybe I’ll even write a resto review for ya… keep your eyes peeled!)
