According to my iPhone’s Weather.com app screenshot below, Chicago’s below-freezing temps are not going anywhere anytime soon. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but while today was a little warmer, it’s going to be in the 20’s yet again beginning this coming Saturday and will stay that way at least until the remainder of the week. GAH.
While it’s definitely staying brighter outside longer and the sun is in check during the day, all I will say is that coming off of this past weekend’s winter snow globe, this rih-donc-ulous weather seriously puts me in a slump. Yes, it’s sunny but let’s be honest, it’s not cutting my craving for warmth!
SO what’s a girl to do?
Go shopping for some new winter gear of course!
I am not talking about just any gear here – I am talking about the winter hat. Oh no, but not just any winter hat – I’m talkin’ bout the Free People Beanie!!!
My obsession with the Free People Beanie began last year when my mom and I were shopping downtown at Bloomingdale’s. I have to give her all the credit because she picked up this UH-dorable beanie from a display table, asking if I thought it was cute. Ummm, not only did I think it was cute but I tried it on right then and there only to make the purchase of it .25 seconds later. Like, I was obsessed and trotted all over town wearing my new oversized, woven cap because it was seriously the most perfect winter accessory… it didn’t flatten out my hair, it was the ideal neutral cream color, and it fit my tiny head really, really well.
Let’s just say that a year later and I have yet to buy a new hat because I am still as in love with my Free People beanie as I was the day I bought it (see me wearing it here).
Wait a second?!?! Why am I just realizing now that I never bought a new winter hat this year?!?!
Like I said, time to go shopping! And as you know, this one-of-a-kind, too-cute-for-words beanie is the only kind of winter hat that I will ever buy again… here are my current favorites in stores now:
They’re all so casual, chic, and cool.

Which one is your fave? Because to be honest, I just can’t decide.

All adorable. Still love my 1st pick the best #1……
I think #1 is a little thicker than the one I currently have. But I love both!! Actually, I should say I love them all!
I like the 3rd one. For some reason I am drawn the the gray color. I hope you stay warm! We finally are having warmer weather! Hopefully you will get some of it soon too!
You’re so lucky Cassie!! Enjoy the warmth and I’ll cross my fingers that it comes my way sooner than later! Xo
