This series, I Adore What I DID, allows me to catch up with you on a more personal level! Take a look at my month through pictures {and some words, too}. Xox
Even though it’s typically a pretty cold month, February in Chicago this year has kinda been glorious. Yep, it did snow and we’ve had some FREEZING, windy, and rainy days but I have to say that overall, the sun has been shining and we’ve even gotten lucky with some warmer weather in the mix, too {including yesterday!! it was a such a nice day out!!} As I’m writing this, Brody, Isaiah and myself just got back from the very crowded park near our apartment. Clearly, we weren’t the only ones to crave the fresh air and sunny breeze this morning. Speaking of, I’m getting really excited for spring! Take a look at all the fun things we did during this busy but quick this month!
1. The Brodster and I took a “Big Muscle Playtime” class at Kidville {where B had his bday party} with our friends Becky and Griffin. This class is LEGIT. Indoor swings, obstacle courses, tunnels, hanging from the bar {which Brody was ridiculously SO good at}, bubbles, and a little workout with the teacher, I mean… this class was to-die-for-cute. I felt like I got a workout too since I was basically chasing Brods around the whole time! Can’t wait to go back!!
2. This month I learned that B is OBSESSED with green drinks!!! You guys, we went to Whole Foods with some friends on a Wednesday when they have $3 drink deals at the juice bar. I decided to order their “Green Monster” {at least that’s what I think it’s called ~ might actually be “green machine” though?? ooops for forgetting!} with kale, ginger, dates, almond milk, celery, plus more. I gave my little man a sip and OMG he could not get enough!!!!!!! He pretty much downed the whole thing in minutes… I was actually nervous that he would get a brain freeze so I made him take a few breaks, but, I kid you not when I say, this guy is all about a green drink! Since that day, we’ve gone to a few other juice bars in the city and the Brodster loves each variation more than the next!
3. That same day at whole foods, Brody had the best time hanging out and eating lunch with his friends Griffin and Corey. What a sweet trio these boys were! Had to share this pic because… three cute babies in shopping carts. OBVY!
4. The hubs bday was at the beginning of the month so naturally, we celebrated at his favorite resto in the city: JOE’S. We literally ate so much that night that my stomach is still feeling full, almost 4 weeks later. Ha! But seriously, we always eat well at Joe’s but oh my lordy, this time we might have went overboard with the order. Alaskan king crab {above}, shrimp cocktail, hashbrowns, fried chicken, onion rings {which aren’t even on the menu, by the way, they made them special for the birthday boy}, steaks, and then this delectable gluten-free brownie shown below. OHEMGEEWHATDOYOUMEANWOWDONTJUDGE.
5. And then Brody got sickey. Booooo. But we went to my parents – AKA grammy and papa’s house – and in spite of the runny nose, bad cough, fever, and puking {ugh, such a sad sight}, we managed to have some fun too. We learned that B loves to play the piano! He might become a professional piano player when he get’s older. He was really into it!
6. So before I started blogging again, Brody won a halloween costume contest! {you can check out the little biker dude on my instagram here} What did he win you ask? A free class at Bubbles Academy!! I actually totally forgot about it and then one day we had no plans when I remembered we still had the free class. I called Bubbles to see if we could get in and lucky for us, there was space available. We went and had the best time! Not only does B love piano, but he also loves guitar too {above}! And the drums!! {see below}
7. Valentine’s Day was a great day! We hung out as a family all morning long and then we went to my niece’s house and hung with their little family in the ‘burbs. Brody lovesssss his older cousy but the verdict is still out on whether or not she loves him. We did manage to get one cute pic of them playing nicely together {below}… it warms my heart, for realz. Obsessed with these two!!
And just a reminder, Brody wore his “Hunka Hunka Burnin’ Love” tee from LovelyLittlesShop. The discount code YAY20 for 20% off anything in the shop is still valid! They have the cutest tees for any occasion!!
WHAT BRODY WORE: Zip-up hoodie sweatshirt, Jeans – use code IADORE for 20% off anything in the FarmFreshDenim shop; Freshly Picked Shoes {this color no longer available} similar here.
8. Another day spent with our friend Griffin!! We went to go see Mr. Tim at Monica and Andy and then we had a little Sbux date afterwards. These sweet boys had the best time jamming out to the music!
WHAT BRODY WORE: The North Face Jacket; J.Crew Crewcuts Factory Button Down; Jeans {no longer available} similar here – use code IADORE for 20% off anything in the FarmFreshDenim shop; Freshly Picked Shoes; Sunglasses {no longer available} similar here.
9. I touched on this during my last Weekly Wins post but taking Brods to our local outdoor mall was like, the best day EVER. This cool kid is so funny and absolutely adored walking strolling around in the fresh air! We had so much fun shopping, eating Shake Shack {B’s first burger!!}, and hanging out together. I literally cherish the weekends when Isaiah is able to be with us because 1) I adore his presence whenever he can grace us with it 2) it’s so nice having another set of hands to help out and 3) the Brodster just lovesssss his daddy!! Seeing them together might be my favorite thing in the world!
10. Brodster and I, along with my friend Brittany and her son, Dylan, went to this new-ish play-space in Lincoln Park called Happy Play Cafe. This place is unlike anywhere we’ve ever been before!!! It’s marketed as “a rescue shelter center for rabbits, a bird pet-store and an indoor play center for children.” Basically, kids get to play with the animals they rescue! We went on a Sunday so it was pretty crowded but oh my did these boys have fun!!! Brods couldn’t get enough of sitting in the balls {above} and then we got crazy and went into the bunny area where the bunnies were just hanging out in and out of their cages. It was pretty sweet. B was into it. If you live in the Chicago area, you should probably check it out with your kiddies, too!
11. My mom came downtown one day to watch Brods while she let me run some errands. I went to Target, because… it’s Target and it’s always on my list of places to go when I have errands! You guys, THESE GLADIATORS {above!}. They didn’t have my size but I ordered online. $34.99 for gladiators… whaaaaaat?! And I bet they are as comfy as they are chic. Perfect for summer! Shop them here.
12. Could you die over this pic?? Brody looks miserable but I promise he was having the best time! We went to the park with our friends Maayan and Jeffrey and as always, had a blast. Well, we always have a blast when we’re with them! Look at Jeffrey’s smile in this pic! Love that little boy!
February never fails to disappoint! Oh! One more thing! Apparently my I Adore What I Did posts continue to fall on B’s monthly bday because today he is officially a big 14-month-old! Is this the month that he’ll start to walk? Probably not but a mom can hope!! I would love for you to share the links on Facebook or on any social media outlets you have!! You can do that easily by clicking on the pink {share this post} bar below. Love you guys!!
