15 Tested and Approved Gifts for ALL 1-Year-Olds

These days, there are an abundance of toys on the market that it can become extremely overwhelming to sift through the good vs. the eh. I, for one, feel like I never really know what to get Brody’s friends for their first birthdays because of this! Luckily for you, Brody received some pretty great gifts when he turned one and I thought it might be fun to share his favorites {in no particular order} with you guys!

1. Fisher-Price Bright Beats Dance & Move BeatBo: My friend Lauren who bought this toy for Brods called it “baby crack” and I fully support that statement! It’s extremely interactive and will put any toddler in a complete trance!

2. Crocodile Creek Wild Animal Green 7″ Play Ball: Nothing wrong with giving the gift of a simple rubber ball! It’s one of B’s faves! This one is especially special because it has pictures of different animals on it, which Brody loves to point to when I say the sound that each animal makes. Love this! 

3. Little Tikes Gas ‘n Go Mower: This is such a perfect gift! Brody knew what to do with it immediately and now that he is walking with support, he can stand up and push it around our apartment! 
 
4. Step2 Sports-tastic Activity Center: Hands down, this might be Brody’s most favorite toy ever! It’s a slide, which he’s climbing on and going down constantly throughout the day; you can play basketball with it on one side and baseball with it on the other! He’s obsessed!
 
5. B. Parum Pum Pum Drum: This is the most perfect musical toy to own and you get so much bang for your buck! Inside the drums you’ll find drum sticks, bells, an egg, a tambourine, plus more! Warning: might be annoying to parents but your child will be loving it! 
 
6. The Little {Girl OR Boy} who Lost {His OR Her} Name Book: We LOVE our “The Little Boy who Lost His Name” book soooo much! For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a personalized story about a boy or girl on a journey to find his or her name. The child goes on a hunt for his or her name meeting different animals that have the letters which eventually spell out the child’s name! I swear it is one of the only longer books that Brody is super attentive for when we read it. Use my referral link and take 15% off when you make your first book purchase! 
 
7. Toy Xylophone: It’s exactly what it looks like but it comes with this little hammer and B goes to town banging on the colorful xylophone keys! Fun! 
 
8. Rainboat Wood Stacking Toy: OMG this is one of our faves! Brody likes to take the wood pieces on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off – basically until I tell him to stop {which is not very often!} You feel me? Enough said!!!
 
9. smarTrike® Dazzle 5 in 1 Trike: This thing is the BEST! I have to be honest, there are too many amazing things about this trike to talk about in one little blurb! My favorite thing about it is that it grows with your child! You can start using it with a child that’s 10+ months and transition it to work better with a child who is 18 months then to 24 months and finally there’s a way to make the trike suitable for children ages 30-36 months. I can’t wait for warmer days when I can ride Brody to the park in it!
 
10. Little TikesTM Cozy Coupe® Sport: This is the updated version of the car you remember having when you were a child… and still just as great!!! Can’t go wrong here!
 
11. V-Tech® Sit-to-Stand Ultimate Alphabet Train: There are so many different entertaining things you can do with this. It talks to you, it sings, it tells you the weather, plus more, but what’s Brody obsessed with the most about it? Putting the letter pieces into the top of the train and watching them shoot out of the caboose! He laughs so hard every time!  
 
12. VTech Musical Rhymes Book: We adore this musical book! B likes to dance to the songs, turn the pages, and dance some more! 
 
13. VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels Park and Learn Deluxe Garage: I mean, what’s better than putting a car on a track and watching it go go go!! Nada, in my opinion. Brody agrees… obviouslyyyy! Gratification for days! 
 
14. 6-Foot Multi-Color Children’s Exploration Pop-Up Tunnel by K-Roo Sports: So, the first day we opened this, Brody was super scared to go through the tunnel unless I was watching him from the other end. Thankfully, that only lasted about 24 hours because now he’s fanatical about it! He basically run-crawls through it and it’s really cute, if I do say so myself! A plus: you can EASILY store it out of the way when you aren’t using it.
 
15. Sweet Sprouts Jumbo Labrador: Awwww, this jumbo dog is the perfect stuffed animal to lay on, cuddle with, and put a smile on any child’s face. When I bring it out, Brody literally face-plants into the dog’s face and my heart melts every.single.time! 
 
So there are our picks!! Each one of these tested and approved presents has kept my little 1-year-old entertained for longer than I could have ever imagined! And he shows no signs of being sick of any of them! Also, I just want to put it out there that I know we are incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives to have gifted him with these fantastic toys, books, and playthings!! Thank you, thank you, thank you again for those of you who celebrated Brody’s first bday with us!
 
Oh and a tip for when it’s your own child’s bday: don’t open everything at once! Designate an area of your house where you can keep some gifts to save for a rainy day later. It’s fun to get a ton of a new toys at one time but it’s even more exciting to open never-before-seen presents here and there!
