All About Prep Dish + A Giveaway!

Oh hi Monday! I know a lot of people do their grocery shopping on Sunday, but I’m typically a Monday food shopper, so, {in my opinion} this post comes to you on a perfect day! Have you ever heard of Prep Dish before? If not, don’t worry, because I’m about to tell you everything that you need to know! A while back I wrote about how much I loved using HomeChef, and my feelings still hold true today, but sometimes, I crave going to the grocery store and choosing my own ingredients myself. That’s where Prep Dish comes in! Let me explain…

First, I think it’s important to note that Prep Dish is all about saving you time and money all while promoting healthy eating! Here’s the gist: you sign up for weekly meal plans to be sent to you via email at the beginning of each month. You receive two sets of meal plan options that you can choose to use each week: gluten-free {perfect for me!} or paleo! Perhaps you are following the Whole 30 diet? Prep Dish is basically tailor made for you!

I’d like to mention that Prep Dish provided me with 3 free months of weekly meal plans to try out prior to writing this post. All opinions are of course my own and I wouldn’t be writing about it if I didn’t love it! This blog is titled I Adore What I Love and as you know, I only write about things I love and adore, sooooo this is no exception… you heard it here first, BIF {fyi, that stands for best internet friends, and I might have just made it up?!?}, I LOVE PREP DISH!

I know I already mentioned that as a Prep Dish member you receive the weekly menus BUT on top of that, included is a printable {color-coded and extremely organized} grocery list, along with super easy to follow basic planning instructions to use on a designated “prep” day. Again, most would probably choose Sunday as their prep day, but for me it’s Monday. Nothing wrong with breaking the rules a bit, right!? Just kidding, there are no rules, and you can decide to prep on whatever day you prefer! The company warrants that prepping for all your weekly meals in the kitchen might take around 2-3 hours but I’ve actually found it to go a little more quickly than that, which I am not complaining about at all! Woohoo! And what I’ve come to realize is that this is a day I’ve actually grown to enjoy. Much like blogging is for me, cutting, cooking, and meal prepping are calming components in my life after a fun-filled busy busy day with the Brodster!

In addition to the fact that I truly enjoy the kitchen prep and designating my Monday’s to it, there’s MINIMAL work to do on the weeknights I’m serving the dishes that I’ve already prepped for. You guys, it’s kinda GENIUS!! And by kinda, I mean it’s REALLY FREAKING GENIUS!

Prep Dish pretty much does all the work for you… except for delivering your groceries, which is sometimes a great thing! It’s nice to take a break from that for a little bit because there’s something to be said about making sure the avocados you’re going to buy are ripe to your liking or choosing the exact piece of fish that you plan to bring home. And Allison, the brains and beauty behind this business sends you weekly “customization” emails with tips and tricks for each recipe. She also offers replacements and adjustments that you might want to make, and most of the time, these emails include a short video to make you feel like she’s talking directly to you! Which I like to believe that she totally is!! DUH!

Each week’s menu plan includes 4 delicious, healthy, and filling dinners {each one serves 4, too!}, 1 perfect side salad, 1 simple snack, 1 hearty breakfast, and 1 flawless dessert. You don’t HAVE to make everything, but for me, not having to think about what my family is going to eat that week is pure amazingness. It’s not always easy to come up with a weekly menu of healthy options and why should I have to put so much thinking into it when I have Prep Dish to do all the upfront work for me?! I shouldn’t!! And neither should you!!! Now, I haven’t taken pics of EVERYTHING I’ve made because most of the time my husband and I will dig in and devour whatever was on our plates before I even remembered to take the photos, BUT I did remember to take pics of a few of our favorites, like the taco soup above. Mmmmmm. And I always have so many leftovers because as I mentioned, each meal is meant for 4 people and there’s only 3 of us in my little family. That being said, I could reduce the ingredient amounts if I wanted to go that route. OR if I’m only going to make the entrees for Isaiah and I, I could cut the recipe amounts in half, which would be SO easy to do too! {a good point to consider, for all you couples sans kids out there}

I made some modifications to this salad above and it was BEYOND! One of those being that I subbed out the original suggestion of using mixed greens and replaced it with kale for an even healthier kick. I knew I would have some extra strawberries that were suggested to be served with the breakfast egg frittata so I decided to add them to the salad, too. My motto: it’s your kitchen, you make the rules {even if you’re following a recipe}!!

So far, I’ve literally made TONS of Allison’s recipes. Every week brings new weekly plans that I LOVE and never would have put together myself. Then, I download the recipes and save them to a folder on my desktop so I can remake them for later… because they’re that good! Each meal that I’ve made has even been husband approved, and that’s saying a lot in our household!! Not going to lie, Isaiah can be picky when it comes to anything labeled “healthy” but he’s gone back for more with each Prep Dish meal I’ve served him! #truuuuth

This Shrimp, Garlic & White Beans over Brown Rice Spaghetti was PHENOMENAL. Like, OMGTHISISSOGOODIWANTMORENOWANDTHENTOMORROWANDTHENAGAINTHEDAYAFTER!!!!

These Cinnamon Honey Coconut “Ice Cream” Pops hit the spot and I didn’t even have to feel bad after eating one, either. Cinnamon + honey + coconut is a STELLAR combo. Why didn’t I ever think of it myself? I had these cool cones in the house from a longggg time ago and they came in handy for this recipe! They’re actually kind of great. All in all, I find Prep Dish to be AWESOME!     This is SUPER neat! I have never heard of this…crossing my fingers!
    Bad skincare habit…sometimes I’m too lazy to wash my face at night and only use a makeup remover towelette. Bad…I know!
