Beautycounter is Badass + A Giveaway

April 4, 2016 in I Adore What I Love

I Adore What I Love Blog // BEAUTYCOUNTER IS BADASS + GIVEAWAY // Featured Image // #iadorewhatilove

Happy Monday! I’m not even going to begin to talk about how I’ve been sick with the stomach flu since Thursday, because, we have way more important things to get to!

{if missed, this is why there were no weekly wins on friday. wah wahhh. i clued my facebook followers in and if you don’t “like” my page already, you should probably do so asap… i often times post never-before-seen-random-pics of brody, and you don’t want to miss out on those do you?! so what are you waiting for? click here and hit the “like” button NOW!}

But before delving into the main reason for this post, I do want to give a BIG shout-out to my favorite {and only} husband for taking such great care of the Brodster all weekend while I laid in bed and slept. And he took care of me too! What a gem! For this amazing man, I am grateful indeed =)

I Adore What I Love Blog // BEAUTYCOUNTER IS BADASS + GIVEAWAY // Cream Blusher 3 // #iadorewhatilove

Now, let’s chat about BEAUTYCOUNTER! First of all, have any of you ever heard of this {green} company before? If not, I can’t wait to enlighten you! You see, before having Brody, I honestly never cared about eating or using anything green or organic, and with that, I certainly didn’t think about reading ingredients on labels. Once I became pregnant, I would say that I still didn’t care too much about any of those things but I was a littleeee more aware of what I was putting in my body and the things that I was putting on my skin just because I had another body living inside of me and I wanted to make sure he was in good hands!! You feel me?

Then, I had Brody and WHOA! I bought The Honest Co Diapers {which you all know are my fave!!!!!} and once he started eating, I made sure to shop in the organic foods section, especially when it comes to the produce I serve him. Fast forward to my life now and I am not crazy about it, by any means, but I am much more conscious about the shampoo and conditioner that I use, the products that I put on my own skin, and food that I put in my mouth. I never thought I would be one of these people, but low and behold, here I am, and you know what? I’m not ashamed! Because I feel educated. And that is a powerful thing!

My friend Kristi is a consultant for Beautycounter and as she began to tell me a little bit about the company, I knew I had to try!! They pride their-self on SAFE skincare, makeup, bath and body, family, and baby products. I was in the market for a new blush so thought I would start by trying that first, which is exactly what I did. They have two kinds: a powder blush and a blush cream stick {which they call their “cream blusher”} and I am going to be honest with you here: their cream blusher is the only Beautycounter product I’ve tried, but I am absolutely, 100%, completely, totally OBSESSED!

I Adore What I Love Blog // BEAUTYCOUNTER IS BADASS + GIVEAWAY // Cream Blusher 1 // #iadorewhatilove

It comes in three colors and for me, I knew I wanted to try the Hibiscus color right off the bat. Well, it literally glided onto my cheeks like a dream and the color was perfection! It gave me a natural, dewy finish on my face and I was SOLD. It also stayed on all day. I literally can’t say enough great things.

So here’s my thought process, if their blush is this good, I just KNOW their other products have to be top of the line as well! Their most recent product line revolves all around baby, so you know I will be trying that soon too! Obvy!

I Adore What I Love Blog // BEAUTYCOUNTER IS BADASS + GIVEAWAY // Stats 1 // #iadorewhatilove

Let’s go back to chatting about the company as a whole, okay?! Their mission is to “get safe products into the hands of everyone”. The founder of Beautycounter was just your average jo mama who started reading about the harmful effects that certain ingredients in the everyday products that we use can effect us long term. She learned that companies are allowed to use known toxins in personal care products because it’s not regulated and nobody is telling them otherwise. Ingredients linked to cancer, reproductive issues, and hormone disruption to be more specific. Isn’t that terrifying? And don’t you feel smarter already for knowing this? I know I do.

I Adore What I Love Blog // BEAUTYCOUNTER IS BADASS + GIVEAWAY // The Never List // #iadorewhatilove

Beautycounter created a never list, as they call it {seen above}, which is a list of over 1500 harmful products they promise to never use. They are fully transparent with ingredients and process of product production. They are pushing congress to pass laws to ban harmful products in everyday personal care products and makeup. They made their own products with the strictest testing and quality to prove it can be done and offer an option to people who want it. The celebrity makeup artist Christy Coleman develops all their makeup and if it’s all as perfect as the cream blusher, let’s just say I am impressed!

Oh! And if you still aren’t sold: watch this video {then read on for giveaway details below!}. It’s smart, real, and honest. It might also give you the chills {just a fair warning}.

Onto the fun part… let’s talk about the GIVEAWAY! [update: GIVEAWAY CLOSED – thanks to all who entered! The winner was chosen and notified via Instagram] I am really excited about this one and now that you know why Beautycounter is so badass, you should probably take part in this badass giveaway! **Buy at least one Beautycounter product using this link and you will be entered to win another product of your choice that is less than or equal to $50!!!!!!!!** And get this: this giveaway is going until MAY 2nd!!!!! So that means you have 30 days to get on it! And the more products you buy, the more times you’ll be entered to win… so each product you buy counts as one entry! Woohoo!

Here’s the thing: nobody expects you to change allll your makeup over and become a crazy lady worried about all the chemicals that might be in the products you’re using. BUT the more we know, the more we are aware. So like I did, maybe start by swapping one product out of your normal beauty routine for a 100% SAFE one from Beautycounter. Makes sense right?!

Make sure you use this specific link though, {instead of just going to the BC website} or else we will not know you bought anything and you won’t be entered into the giveaway. You know, I’m actually a little jealous of you right now and really wish I could play too!!!!!! Good luck!!

It’s crazy how many chemicals the US is getting away with putting in our MAKEUP but Europe and the rest of the world are so conscious of it!! I’ve definitely started to think about it more as I’ve gotten older! Hope you’re feeling better! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    • Dana Ivy April 4, 2016 at 8:48 am

Right?! I find it terrifying, Biana! And I honestly never gave a thought to going greener in my life! And thank you!! Today is really the first day I’ve woken up feeling like myself again! You’re so sweet! Xx

  • Nina April 4, 2016 at 10:43 am

  • Kathryn April 4, 2016 at 1:26 pm

I’ve never heard of Beautycounter but they sound like a great company with great products! Those cream blushers look beautiful, although I’m always afraid a cream blush will look too obvious on my skin, haha. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

    • Dana Ivy April 4, 2016 at 2:50 pm

This is the first time I’ve ever used cream blush in my life and I am a total convert!! Nothing to be afraid of girl!!!! The color rubs in like a dream!!! And lasts longer too, in my opinion at least! Not sure why didn’t jump on the bandwagon sooner :) Xox

  • Jalisa April 4, 2016 at 4:01 pm

I’m so sorry you haven’t been feeling well, I hope you’re feeling better! As for this brand, it sounds amazing and one I’d like to try because I do tend to prefer organic and all natural anything. I was talking to one of my friends who works in the organic cosmetics industry not too long ago and she was saying how the U.S. has some of the worst regulations for beauty products compared to much of Europe, it’s crazy! This certainly confirmed what she said, 1938, this is pathetic?! Thanks so much for sharing this info with us and I hope you have an amazing week ahead!

    • Dana Ivy April 4, 2016 at 7:33 pm

Thanks girl!!! It’s been a rough go but I am happy to report that I am SO MUCH better now! Thank goodness!! It’s so crazy how the US isn’t regulated in the beauty department and to be honest, it really doesn’t make sense to me!! Nuts and yep, pathetic for sure!! I hope you try Beautycounter!! If you decide to, make sure you use my link so you can be entered to win the giveaway!! Have a good night! Xox

  • Sierra Oblad April 4, 2016 at 10:05 pm

    • Dana Ivy April 4, 2016 at 11:32 pm
