This series, I Adore What I DID, allows me to catch up with you on a more personal level! Plus, you can see and get the deats on WHAT WE WORE!!! Take a look at my month through pictures {and some words, too}. Xox
Wait, what? April is already pretty much over? How did this happen, I just don’t know! What a fun and special month!!! I say it was a special one because for me, the most exciting moment was that my brother and sister-in-law made me an auntie again to the cutest, sweetest, most perfect little nephew that I’ve ever laid eyes on! You can see pictures of his cute face a little later in the post!
WHAT {my} BRODY WORE: His striped tee is sold out. Click here for one that’s similar.
We started out our month with a perfect lunch with two of Brody’s best buds, Asher and Brody! They’ve both been featured on the blog before a ton and I’m sure this won’t be the last time! Can you tell by the smiles on these boys faces how much fun we were all having at The Cheesecake Factory?! {hint hint: SO MUCH FUN!}
WHAT BRODY WORE: Ballin Paris tee. Sweatpants {not available online}, similar here; stride-rite shoes.
Having a blast at Bump Club and Beyond‘s BCB Birthday Bash! Wellllll, trying to at least! Oops, we woke B up from a nap because we were meeting friends there and he was in a daze the whole time. Case in point: he didn’t want to be on the parachute and usually it’s his FAVORITE. With that being said, it was a great event… a Lollapalooza for kids, if you will… and I’m glad we went!
WHAT I WORE: Black check bell-sleeve baby doll dress, BCBG, but no longer available, similar here that I LOVE; Nude heels – NOW $74.25 down from $99!! {I’m OBSESSED with them and they are comfortable}
Isaiah and I went to Cleveland for a friend’s wedding! It was fun! The funny thing was that we were really there for Isaiah’s good friend from college {the groom} but he also grew up with the bride! Isn’t that random? And he did not introduce the two of them! Ha! Because of this coincidence, my in-laws were there too since they’re close with the bride’s parents. This made for a really jam-packed, busy, and all around great weekend!
The next weekend, we were back in Chicago and I spent my Saturday at my friend Marissa’s bridal shower in the burbs! It was a very special shower for a good friend who’ve I’ve literally known since I was three! How amazing do these cupcakes look? Obvs I couldn’t eat them because they weren’t GF but everyyyyyone was raving about how delish they were!!!!!
That night, I went to Siena Tavern with my friends Alyse, Traci, and Sam. I literally left there feeling SO full… but it was the best night filled with hilarious stories, lots of catching up, and tons of girl talk! Nights like this are some of my favorites!
I’ve mentioned this in the past on the blog but every other Sunday I teach Jewish Family School! On this particular Sunday, the entire synagogue got together for a bunch of Passover activities. Myself and some other fab teachers ran the station where the kids made afikomen holders… with puffy paints and all! I obviouslyyyy had to get in on the action and actually made one for Brods and one of my niece… and then forgot to bring them to Passover this past weekend. Wah wahhhh. But how cute, right?! Saving them for next year of course!
After family school, Isaiah and I took Brody to get his FIRST haircut! After 15 months we finally bit the bullet, you guys! And Brody did SO great, too!! Well, he was sitting in a chair that looked like a car and watched TV the whole time. These kids haircut places really know what they’re doing! And then he got a certificate with some of his hair attached to it!! I die!
PS Isaiah dressed him on this day while I was teaching and decided to put him in the same outfit he wore a few weekends before to the Bump Club event. DADS! {but it is cute, so I’ll give him that!}
It was a BEAUTIFUL day in the neighborhood so after Brody’s haircut, we strolled to the park! Before we left the house, Brody found these sunglasses in his room and wouldn’t take them off, which worked out well for a sunny day on the swings!
PS his sunglasses are from last year, but this pair is equally as cool!
Had to include that at the beginning of last week, Brody and I lunched at The Boundary in Wicker Park with my besties and his aunties Alyse and Blake! It was the most gorgeous day and we ate OUTSIDE!!!! It was SO hot and SO sunny, not that I’m complaining! Don’t worry, we sat under an umbrella! Also, how about those chicken tacos??? YUM.
Meet Emmy! My friend Dena gave birth to this little cutie weeks earlier than expected… but she is healthy and doing so so well after a month of being welcomed into this world! Brody and I went to visit them and she was literally the tiniest baby I’ve ever seen in person!! I could just eat her up… and hold her all day long! She is SUPER chill and really sweet. If missed, see the gift we brought her in this weekly wins post, under the “give” section! Also shown on my insta.
We went to the park and took a walk with our friend Jeffrey one night! These boys have been besties since they were born {brods is two days older than jeffrey} and this photo is just a crazy reminder of how much they’ve grown up! We stopped in 7/11 and had to snap this pic because it cracks me up! They are big boys already! Exciting/sad/crazy/allllll the emotions.
PS Brody is OBSESSED with Vita Coco Coconut Water! I don’t blame him; so refreshing!
WHAT BRODY WORE: Grateful Dead T-shirt; Gray and black hoodie; Jean-like sweatpants, no longer available, similar here; stride-rite shoes.
We met my mom a few times this month at Nordstrom. The BEST meeting spot EVER {duhhh}. In this particular moment, Brody was dying to get out of the stroller so my mom decided to practice his walking skills with him {which by the way, we are still working on!}. This pic makes me smile!
Andddd thennnn, my nephew was born!! Welcome to this world perfect baby, Owen Cole! He made his appearance this past Saturday weighing 6 lbs, 12 oz, and my month was made! Baby boy, your uncle, cousin, and I are BEYOND obsessed with your sweet cheeks and gorgeous face! I feel so lucky to have had tons of auntie/nephew time with you this weekend and can’t wait to spoil you rotten all your life! Insert allllll the heart emojis here.
We brought some Sprinkles cupcakes to the hospital… but of course! I didn’t get to eat any but they smelled INSANE.
Unfortunately, Owen’s cousin wasn’t allowed in the hospital but he LOVES looking at pictures of him! This was the first photo Brody saw of his new cousy and he was studying his face!! It was too cute! Can’t wait for them to become besties forever!
I mean, what.a.cutieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. He’s actually a total clone of his sister Sloane, but holding him brought me back to when B was an infant and he reminds me a lot of him too! Just adore. Also, Owen is a super jew! He was born on Passover! Speaking of the holiday…
…we celebrated with my entire fam {with the of exception of my bro and sister-in-law who were at the hospital} on Saturday night at my parents house! My mom is really thoughtful and made me my very own gluten free matzo ball soup. Isn’t she the best mom ever?!?! I think so! It was YUM.
Then Brody decided he wanted to be shirtless for the majority of the night. Okay Brods! Whatever you want, cookie! {ha, that’s what I call him} Anyways, he was having the most magical time playing the piano with his cousy, Sloane. Can you tell? {just look at that smile… which might be hard, because all I can focus on looking at this pic is his hot bod}
WHAT I WORE: Embroidered Peplum Tank; Linen Soft Shorts.
On Sunday, we took a family walk to Sbux in the morning {as mentioned on my instagram} and then walked to Water Tower, had lunch at Food Ease, and after made out way to the hospital to see our cutie nephew again! It was so nice outside that I wore SHORTS all day long. Ahhh, if you know me, you know I love me some shorts. It was pretty freaking amazing!
Ice cream!!!!!! Took a walk with my bro and got a chocolate vanilla twist from M Burger. Just look at that perfectly coiled cone!
On Monday, Brody rocked his White Sox hat all day long. We met my friend Nicole for lunch at the most amazing resto in Logan Square called Lula Cafe. I can’t believe I’ve never been before. THIS is what we got. I want to go back… Again and again and again.
PS Another pic where B looks like such a big boy!! Gahhh.
WHAT BRODY WORE: Beatles T-Shirt; Sweatpants {not available online}, similar here; the best children’s natural hair pomade.
Last but not least, yesterday we went to B’s favorite gym class at Kidville. I mean, he LOVES this class, you guys! He is always shy with everyone at first and then comes out of his shell about half-way through. Can’t wait to go back!

Wow, you had such an eventful and fun month, Dana! First off, congrats on being a new auntie again, he does remind me A LOT of Brody, very similar features! I love the LBD you wore to the event, it’s SO pretty and those shoes are so lovely, too, you look like such a babe! I’m seriously obsessing over that ‘Ballin’ shirt, I would totally get one if I had a little guy! Brody seemed so calm during his cut, such a good sport, and he looks SO precious playing that piano, I love when I see babies so happy like this! You are such a GREAT mom, Dana! I love how you keep Brody active and social at this stage, he’s going to have such excellent social and communication skills! Thanks so much for sharing your month with us, it was definitely fun taking a look at the pics and reading all about them! I hope you’re having the best day so far, beautiful!
XO,
Jalisa
http://www.thestylecontour.com
Yes! You can say that again, Jalisa! Eventful it was! Owen reminds me of Brody too… especially the newborn stage! If you can believe it B was 6 lbs too when he was born and now he’s huge! I have a feeling Owen will be the same way! Thanks for the love on my LBD and nude heels! Brody was SO great while getting his haircut! We were impressed! And seriously, to say that I am a great mom is a compliment like no other! I love you for that! I am obsessed with the little man and just stare at him all day wondering how he’s mine! We are very social and he is very verbal and I just want him to stay innocent forever!!!!! Happy Friday girl!! Have the best weekend!! Xoxo

I’m with Deena, I agree, give me all the babies and all the cupcakes!! Looks like you month was busy busy. We waited till my son was 18 months old to cut his hair the first time… it was so sad but badly needed so what are you gonna do? :(
It was so busy! Busier than normal I would say! And totally about the haircut. I was so nervous and wouldn’t let the hairdresser cut much and now I regret it because we need to go back already! Hair grows so fast!! Thanks for stopping by the blog and I hope you’ll be back to read more!!! Xox
