Weekly Wins // #10

April 15, 2016 in I Adore What I Love

Weekly Wins is a series where I touch on my “wins” from the week in the categories of love, buy, do, eat, give, read, tech, watch and wear. It’s 100% my favorite post to write. Enjoy!

This week was a busy one! We didn’t stop! The weather was sunny and bright which was a nice surprise considering last week was snowing and frigid. I’m excited because starting today, Chicago is going to have BEAUTIFUL weather and I’m hoping it’s here to say! Cross your fingers!!!!

The chocolate smell from outside that leaks into our apartment… ummm can you say YUM! And this week, the chocolate was especially potent {in a good way, obvs}. They say each city has a different smell and Chicago definitely smells like chocolate! The reason: Blommer Chocolate Factory!!! Mmmmm

Ked’s shoes… and particularly, these leather slip-ons that I wore on the plane this past weekend when we went to Cleveland! Let’s backtrack a bit: growing up I was the Ked’s white slip-ons QUEEN! They had to be white and they had to be slip-ons! I literally went through pair after pair for years and every time I got new ones, it was pretty much the best day ever! Fast forward to now: I haven’t worn Ked’s since I was a little girl. They kind of lost their cool for a bit, but guess what, they are back and better than ever! They come in all different styles, patterns, colors, and fabrics, and each one is more perfect than the next. I bought these cool camel-colored leather ones and have gotten 458,920,000 compliments since I’ve been wearing them, which has actually only been for a few days! They are the perfect running-errands-around-town shoe. YOU NEED! Click here for more info!

Because we were out of town all weekend, we had ZERO food in our house upon getting home! This week, Brods and I went to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s and now we have a stocked freezer and refrigerator. Best feeling ever!

These Trader Joe’s Kettle Popped Popcorn Chips!!!! OHEMGEE once you pop the fun don’t stop! Since we were going to TJ’s my friend Lauren told me that I HAD to get these chips because she loved them and knew I would too. Well, B hadn’t eaten lunch yet and was getting hungry so I opened the bag while we were in there and gave him some. I hadn’t even had one but he kept putting his hand in the bag for more, clearly LOVING them… so I tried one for myself and WHOA. Sweet, savory, and addicting. Plus, they are gluten-free and loaded with good-for-you things like chia seeds, flax seeds, quinoa, and sunflower seeds! My only regret is not buying two bags!

In second place for my weekly eat-win: the aftermath of THIS chicken caprese that I posted on my Instagram! It was SO yum!!

My husband was in New York traveling for work and I knew he had long and busy days while he was there. He is OBSESSED with these paleo cookies that are gluten-free, grain-fee, dairy-free, and GMO-free and they are sold all over the Chicagoland area. These cookies are maybe the best thing I’ve had since sliced bread. Seriously though! Each HUGE cookie and is filled with chocolate chips and coconut and if you ask me, they actually taste like a macaroon but 1000 times better! The thing with these cookies, however, is that they are NOT CHEAP. And when I say that, I mean they are literally way more money than a cookie should ever be! But, sometimes, they’re worth it. It’s made with all natural ingredients, is super satisfying and you don’t feel regret after having one. So back to my hubby traveling this week, I bought a box of these cookies for him and hid it under the comforter the night he came home. When he was getting into bed, he obviously saw the cookies and was pretty pumped! Then, he proceeded to eat one for his after-dinner dessert. YUM! If you don’t live in Chicago, you can luckily {and easily!} buy a dozen on Amazon here.

If you read my post from last Monday, you would know how badass Beautycounter is, and how it’s their mission to inform society about the hazards of non-safe personal care products! {if you didn’t read it, you really should!!} Check out the infographic below about heavy metals in cosmetics. SCARY!!!! If you want to browse the Beautycounter website and put in an order for one of their uber-SAFE products, don’t forget about the giveaway I currently have going on! Make a purchase via this link and you will be entered to win a Beautycounter product of your choice for $50 or less! The more products you buy, the more entries into the giveaway you get! Not many people have made purchases yet so get it on because your chances of winning are HIGH! FYI: I am OBSESSED with their creme blush!

Ummm, this is my new favorite thing to do when I’m feeling bored and am in need of a good laugh! Download the meMatic app to make you’re own meme and/or add captions to photos. It’s pretty freakin’ entertaining! I can’t take the credit for finding it, though, as my bestie Blake texted me the below meme the other day and I died laughing out loud! I showed Brods and he started laughing, then we both were laughing and, well, it was a pretty epic moment!

So this was a good TV week. How do I pick just one watch one??! The Real Housewives of Dallas Premier and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Finale are tied for the win! RHOD was interesting! Not totally sure of my feelings about it yet but what I do know is that I feel like these woman are SO different from each other. Like, in totally different phases of life. I guess that’s the point and it will make for a pretty intense season. And who knew the Dallas charity scene was such a big deal?! As for the RHOBH, I found it a little sad. Kyle’s party was kind of a bust and the fact that Yolanda and David Foster’s divorce was documented like that was not to be expected. You know who I love though and will miss seeing every week on TV? Erika Girardi! Oddly enough, she’s the most normal one!

This floral midi dress that I wore to the wedding rehearsal dinner on Friday night. Floral is all the rage right now but I like how this pattern against the black has a little edge to it. I’m usually not one to go for the midi length but I think it worked here. So cute, right?!? PS I wore with the same pumps that were my buy-win last week. They were surprisingly super comfortable, you guys!! So much so that I lasted in them all night long with no problems at all! Here’s the link to the dress and here’s the link to the nude pumps =)

Looove that dress! I thought I was pretty lucky with living by a forest so I get to smell fresh air all the time, but chocolate would give that smell a run for it’s money for sure!
