The last time I was in New York was two years ago and in my eyes, that was two years too long!!!!! So, for the past year I’ve been dropping subtle hints that I was ready to get back. Something about the city just gives me allllll the feels. The air, the people, the streets, the different little city pockets, the shopping, the bakeries, the restaurants, omg I could go on and on and on. Basically, it all just makes my heart HAPPY. Realllll happy!

Luckily, I have the best husband ever who ain’t no dummy. LOL. Let’s just say he caught onto my need to get to NYC and ran with it!! He chose the date, booked the flights, asked his parents if they wanted to come watch the kids, and we jetted off. And I sure am grateful because we had the best freaking time ever. Bonus that the weather gds were with us and it was a glorious 75-80 degree days the entire time we were there! It felt like summer, looked like fall, and we were able to walk everyyyyywhere. Insert the hands up thankful emoji here.

There were a ton of you who asked for outfit details of what I wore while we were there as well as many of you who asked about all the food we ate and the restaurants we liked. Grab a glass of wine and start reading! While it may seem like a long post, this really is just a glimpse of our trip in {iPhone} pictures {and words, too, obvy!} Also linking to as many of my outfit details as I can underneath the individual photos. Here we go…

We stepped off the plane and immediately we were hit with the sweet sweet scent of that NYC air I was talking about. There’s nothing like it in the world! SO excited to be there!! SHOP MY LOOK: sunglasses {similar}; top {similar} and love this and this one too.

Hi Michael Simon!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys, instagram is a powerful thing! One day on my instastories {which I just found out that most people refer to as IG stories – however, I like my name more so I’m sticking with it}, I started talking about how I was waiting to hear back from The Chew to see if Isaiah and I could be in the audience. I had filled out the online form for tickets but it had been weeks and never heard a thing! Considering it’s my favorite show on daytime TV, and we were going to be there on a filming day, I was soooo sad at the thought that it might not happen. Haha maybe that was a little too dramatic but I really was upset! Anyways, I instastoried about it and my friend Ashley, who works for ABC, immediately reached out and before I knew it I had VIP tickets in hand! We literally went straight from the airport to The Chew studios and sat front row in the audience. {thank you thank you thank you again Ashley!!} Mario wasn’t on that day but I ended up being able to separately chat with Michael, Clinton, and Carla! It was an out of body experience, especially when Clinton decided that he wanted a selfie with me!! {I posted it on instastories that day!} So so fun and Isaiah even had a blast too!! {him and Michael bonded over being Brown’s football fans}

Ok so if you are ever in NYC, The Plaza Food Hall is a must-do!!! It’s basically a food emporium with a ton of different restaurants, coffee bars, bakeries, and ice cream shops to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the basement of The Plaza hotel. It’s definitely the best kept secret in New York!

So this girl, Kyranna, and I connected on instagram {her handle is @hostedwithlove} and she eats gluten free. She comes here all the time and specifically frequents William Greenberg Bakery. She was instastorying the black and white cookies from there and then she mentioned they were gluten free!! I called to see if they had tapioca in them, thinking that they definitely did {since most gluten free processed foods do}, and was so so shocked and excited to hear they didn’t… needless to say I knew I had to make a stop there because if you know me at all, you know I love a cakey, delicious, traditional NYC black and white cookie! Well, this did not disappoint at all. If I didn’t know any better, I would have never known it was gluten and tapioca free. It tasted pretty freaking amazing, and just like the original!!!!! Which they also do sell, by the way, as well as an entire array of other {gluten and gluten-free desserts too}.  Can you tell I’m obsessed with this bakery?!

We randomly hit up The Smith for lunch one day and absolutely loved it. This kale salad with ahi tuna was absolute perfection, and I was so hungry that I totally forgot to snap a pic prior to digging in. The photo above is the salad like half-way eaten but it  still looks instaworthy! It was huge and so so good. Might be a good idea to bookmark this post for when you’re in NYC next… you don’t want to forget to go here!! {another bonus: it wasn’t terribly expensive for New York}

The menu speaks for itself but even better: the atmosphere is awesome. Next time you’re in NYC, make a rezie at Tutto Il Giorno; you won’t regret it. The hubs had been here before and he told me that when he left all he could think about is how he wanted to take me here the next time we were in NY together. Upon walking in you think it’s a going to be a quaint little romantic Italian joint and then you actually walk in and you realize it’s a cool, hoppin’ Tribeca gem! It’s huge which I didn’t expect and the music is upbeat, and then there’s the fact that you feel like you are amongst all the cool people in NYC. Hahaha am I describing this well? And on top of all that: the food is insanely delish. Go there!

Oh! And you can’t really tell here but the tables are pretty close together. Now, I don’t always like this but it totally worked in this restaurant. We made friends with both tables that sat next to us which made for a fun NYC night 1 experience =) SHOP MY LOOK: white top, old, love this which is nothing like the one in the pic but I would wear it to a fancy dinner like this!!!; long necklace.

How pretty is the outside of Tutto Il Giorno?! It’s magical looking! SHOP MY LOOK: jacket; black jeans, black pumps.

I decided that if I was going to be eating black and white cookies, fancy lunches and dinners out everyday and night that we were there, I was going to have to do some working out too! Yes, we probably walked 565,340 miles the whole time we were there {we really only took cabs at night} but it just made me feel better to hop on the treadmill for 30 minutes each morning before showering and starting our day! Plus, no kids meant Isaiah and I could do as we please! So we took advantage. SHOP MY LOOK: workout sweatshirt on SALE for $12; leggings, old, similar; fave sneakers.

One of my favorite things about New York City: Pressed Juicery. If I could drink their ‘greens 1’ {just look at that ingredient list!!!} everyday, I would. But you already knew that if you follow me on insta ;)

Fun photo background. How could I resist?  SHOP MY LOOK: leather jacket {mine is old, the one I linked is cute too!}; pink sheer metallic sweater; jeans {similar}; pink shoes on sale!; carry-all bag.

Wait, but this photo backdrop is even cooler, am I right?! We walked from our hotel in Soho to the 9/11 World Trade Center memorial. It was so special, emotional, and moving. Then, we went across the street to the new Westfield World Trade Center shopping center. Nothing like a little shopping excursion to lift up your spirits. Andddd, not to mention it was one of the most unique malls I’ve ever been to in my whole life. Just look at that ceiling/rooftop!!!!!! Oh! And in this pic I’m actually standing in front of the temporary store in the main level of the mall that was promoting a new fragrance from Gucci, called Gucci Bloom. Read more on that below…

In reality, the “store” was more of a beautiful indoor garden than a store! And guess what? They got me. I bought the fragrance!! I really do love it and I’ve been wearing it everyday since I’ve been home and am getting compliments nonstop! Plus, I was in the market for a new perfume since the one I’ve been wearing for 10+ years has been discontinued. Wah wahhh. Gucci Bloom to the rescue though – it smells like the prettiest floral arrangement you’ve ever been given!

This was my outfit of choice for NYC date night #2. Would you believe me when I tell you that my top is from Target and is now on sale for $25??? Probably not, because it doesn’t look like it nor does it feel like it {you guys, it’s the SOFTEST!!!} My mom got it for me in cream because she knows how in love with it I am… can you say best mom ever?! SHOP MY LOOK: orangey-red sweaterwhite jeans {similar}; nude pumps {similar}; bag {similar}.

Drinks at BOBO with my man. Isn’t he good looking?!?! Decided to wear my hair in a low pony tail to show off the turtleneck of the sweater. Obsessed!

For an awesome drink in NYC, this is where you need to go. Plus, they are winning in the atmosphere department. You have to walk down a few stairs to get to the door and once you are in, it’s a whimsical little spot that you’ll never want to leave! Packed in a good way {we got two chairs at the bar the second we walked in}, super lively, and just all around cute. Loved it! And so will you!

MUSSELS at Extra Virgin. Yes, please! Speaking of Extra Virgin, this is where we went for dinner after drinks at BOBO and it is awesome. All of the spots are pretty cool in the West Village but this one scores an A+ for everything… food, drinks, service, atmosphere, music, + more!

Attempted to take the subway to Brooklyn to meet a few friends for lunch but it was majorly delayed and we ended up taking a cab instead. While we were waiting thoughhhhh – {insert hand-pointing-up emoji here!} SHOP MY LOOK: yellow rain jacket {no longer available, this one is adorbs}; jeans {similar}, white sneaks {similar}.

First time in Brooklyn and I get the appeal. You still feel the vibes of NYC but in a very livable way. Does that make sense? Two of my good friends live in different areas of Brooklyn and we went to lunch with them then walked all the streets, where we happened to find an adorable farmer’s market. If I had all the room in my luggage, I would have taken all the baked goods, homemade jams, and delicious smelling street food home with me. Mmmmm.

Last night in the city and it was a memorable one! One word: TAO. Not gonna lie, I kind of felt like a Kardashian being there. Oh how I love those Kardashians.

I Adore What I Love Blog // I Heart New York // www.iadorewhatilove.com #iadorewhatilove

The dining area was a SCENE!!!!!! First of all, it’s literally a ginormous room. Booths, big round tables, and stadium seating + a dark ambiance made for the best people watching experience EVER. The sushi was delish but if I’m being honest, there wasn’t a ton I could eat. They haven’t really got the gluten free thing down pat yet but I’m crossing my fingers that next time we go, it will be better! And while our service was less than stellar, it was a very cool experience just being there. If you’re from Chicago, we found out that they are soon opening up one here and I’m hoping it won’t disappoint. SHOP MY LOOK: black off-the-shoulder bubble-sleeve sweater {similar}; faux leather leggings, black booties {similar}.

Can’t pass up a gigantic fortune cookie for dessert!!!!!!!! Well, I had to since I obviously couldn’t eat it but Isaiah loved it. And those were, indeed, real fortunes, in case you were wondering!
